VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player

17 05 2010

The improvement in technology has resulted in VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player to appear on the horizon. It is slightly the same with the previous two Blu-ray players but it has been amazingly designed with two additional features that will attract your attention. The new features included are Vizio’s Internet Apps and Wi-Fi capabilities.

So, what will you get with these new additions? Obviously, movie watching will not be the same like your old days anymore because you will be able to watch movie online through stream online movies from Netflix or Vulu via a wireless connection. This is a great thing to have.

Let’s go further to its specifications; this VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player is designed slightly slim. It has 2.4 inches in height. This Blu-ray Player presents sensitive touch that is located on the front of the player. Also, the silver disc tray is placed in the middle of this player. Moreover, the necessary input and output are placed on the rear of the player. If you scrutinize the front part, it has a glossy black finish and reflects the high tech look.

Since it will be used mostly for movie watching, VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player is equipped with Full HD 1080ps. It means that you will have better quality than the standard DVDs, it may reach the quality near High Definition levels. When playing video, you will be given three options to connect the video which are HDMI ver. 1.3, Component, and Composite outputs. This HDMI connection included will present you the best video output especially when you play back the Blu-ray or DVD disc.

Moreover, VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player also gives improved capability for its audio. This player offers 7.1 multi-channel surround sounds via HTMI. Besides this multi-channel connection, there are also analog 2.0ch and Digital Optical/Coaxial outputs. Also, the audio will be supported with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.

Speaking of the internet capability, VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player has been improved with its ability to access online streaming content such as news, movies, music, weather, etc. To enjoy the feature, you are suggested to use the online services available throughout the internet such as Netflix, VUDU, Twitter, Pandora Internet Radio, Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, Associated Press, and The New York Times. This way, you seem to have multifunction player with the capability of giving valuable benefits in surfing the internet through online streaming.

To perform the online streaming with VIZIO VBR200W Full HD Blu-ray Player, use the connection through Ethernet Port or set up a wireless connection. This Blu-ray player is equipped with a 802n built-in wireless that offers the easy access to Home Network. However, even though this player has the capability to perform online streaming from internet, it is impossible for you to stream video as well as music files from your computer because this player doesn’t support the DLNA compliant.

Apart from the fallback, you will still be able to access BD-Live when the player is connected to internet. Through BD-Live contents, you can include the latest movie trailers, deleted scenes, trivia games, documentaries, and more. Even though the player doesn’t come with internal memory, you can add external memory storage device yourselves. Indeed, with the lower price, this Vizio VBR200W is worth buying.

PC Security – Keep your PC Safe from Malware

PC Security – Keep your PC Safe from Malware

So, you got a new computer, or maybe you have an old one, and you’re not sure how to keep the bad guys out. Well, you’re not alone and you’re right for wondering. I could spout statistics to you, with inflated exaggerations of how many viruses are out there, and how many people get one every day, but the fact is, almost everyone has something on their computer that shouldn’t be there. Be it as minor as a tracking cookie in their cache (yes, cookies can be bad sometimes, although most of the time they are delicious), to a blatant virus stopping you from doing your daily tasks.  We’ll be addressing a number of topics in this blog, and over the course of the next few weeks I’ll be I’m writing about ways to minimize the threats to your computer.    Here’s the first:

Get some security software! There are a lot of programs on the market, and many people aren’t sure what they need. Something is far better than nothing, but a few of the better programs are: Norton, Microsoft Security Essentials, Kaspersky, Panda, or CA.  Keep in mind, you can only have one, as you will definitely run into problems if you try to put too many security programs on your computer. It’s like getting a bunch of different breeds of guard dogs together; there’s bound to be a fight.

If you can splurge for it, go ahead and buy their security suite, as it will have more than enough to cover you, and since it’s all from the same company, you’ll have little worry about conflicts. If you’re tight on a budget, get at minimum the anti-virus, anti-spyware (also called anti-malware), and preferably the firewall program. These will get you the most basic of protection with minimal intrusion. If you leave out any one of those, you leave yourself vulnerable. What does all that mean? Without getting too in-depth, the anti-virus and anti-spyware/anti-malware will keep the bugs and unwanted programs out, and the firewall helps stop people from randomly spying on you and dropping bugs onto your system. It’s sorta like getting yourself on the “Do Not Call” list against telemarketers. Your firewall can tell who is trying to contact your computer and block the attempt if it’s from someone it doesn’t recognize or trust. I’ll say, however, that if you own a router, wireless or otherwise, you could probably go without the firewall, but I would always recommend having one anyway just in case.

Here at our retail store our customers often introduce themselves as “techno-challenged or computer-illiterate.”  (My wife would still prefer a TV with a manual dial to tune in stations 2-13.)   To some degree all of us struggle to adapt to modern technology. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines technology as “the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area.” I prefer to think of technology as those mechanisms developed to make living easier and better.  The problem is that sometimes things don’t work out as planned.  Ever lose a 10 page term paper because your computer crashed?  How about your cell phone dropping an important call?

While the stunning picture quality of High-Definition TV is certainly a testament to the value of new technology, the recent digital television changeover hasn’t been immune to the same phenomena.   This is especially true for those trying to adapt an older analog TV to the new digital broadcasts via an antenna.   This required the purchase and connection of a converter box, but for many of our customers this has left them wading in a digital stream of despair.  (Cable or satellite users were virtually unaffected by the digital transition.)

Many are disappointed in the clarity and number of stations they are viewing on their TVs – these qualities were supposed to be enhanced by the digital transition!  Here’s what I’ve learned from working with these customers: Digital-to-analog converter boxes can be problematic.  They seem to work okay for some people, but many times the reception quality is poor.  Case in point, I worked with a customer who unknowingly hooked up a converter box to her HDTV thinking she needed it for reception.  When using the converter box as a tuner, she was only able to scan in a couple of stations.  When I realized her HDTV contained a built-in digital tuner, I disconnected the converter box and scanned the stations using the HDTV’s built-in tuner.  Lo and behold, she was able to tune-in several TV broadcast stations including high definition content.  This result has been duplicated many times with customers who have given up on the digital-to-analog converter boxes and purchased an HDTV with the built in digital tuner.  Certainly one should keep in mind that other variables may affect reception such as the condition of the antenna and the distance from the broadcasting station.

In summary, converter boxes may be a workable short term solution for reception of digital signals on analog TVs.  However, to receive the best reception and clearest picture possible, the long term answer exists in a new HDTV.
